Don't Just Tell Them, Show Them It Works
Are you explaining your program… or proving it actually works?
Most coaches default to explaining.
They hear someone’s problem and jump straight into what they do.
“We do strength training.”
“We focus on nutrition.”
“We build consistency.”
None of that is wrong.
But none of that builds real trust either.
Because from the client’s perspective, it’s just words.
What actually builds trust is this sequence:
First, you acknowledge what they said.
“Man, I understand that. That sucks.”
“That’s frustrating. A lot of people deal with that.”
That moment matters more than most people realize.
It tells them you’re not brushing past their problem. You’re sitting with it.
Then, instead of explaining your program in theory, you show it in reality.
“One of our clients was in the same spot. Struggling with consistency, not feeling great. We got him on a simple strength plan and cleaned up his sleep, and now he’s hitting goals he didn’t think were possible.”
Now the conversation changes.
You’re not describing a system.
You’re showing a result.
That does two things at the same time.
It gives them evidence.
And it builds trust.
Because they’re not just hearing what you say you do. They’re seeing what actually happens when someone like them follows your guidance.
That’s what helps people connect the dots.
“That person sounds like me.”
“If it worked for them… maybe it could work for me.”
And when that thought shows up, everything gets easier.
You don’t have to push.
You don’t have to convince.
They’re already starting to believe.
This is where most coaches fall short.
They either validate without direction… or they explain without proof.
The combination is what works.
Acknowledge the problem.
Show a real example.
Let them see the pattern.
That’s how you “triple down” on trust.
At Pathfinder Sales Coaching, this is what we train.
Not just what to say, but how to guide the conversation so people feel understood, see real evidence, and trust the process before you ever ask them to commit.
Because when people can see that it works,
they don’t need to be convinced.
