Sales Coaching for Gym Owners & Coaches

Who Want to Help More People.

Why Selling Less Can Actually Build More Trust

Do you feel like you always have to sell the most expensive option?

A lot of coaches think that’s the job.

Someone comes in. You identify the “best” solution. And you try to get them to say yes to it.

Makes sense on paper.

But in real conversations, that approach can break trust fast.

Because the person sitting across from you isn’t just thinking about results. They’re thinking about their life. Their budget. Their stress. Their uncertainty.

And if they feel like you’re only pushing the top option, they start questioning your intent.

“Are they trying to help me… or just sell me?”

That’s where trust starts to drop.

Here’s the shift.

Instead of forcing the “best” option, you walk them through multiple paths.

You show them what each option does.
You explain how each one helps.
You meet them where they are.

Maybe three days a week of coaching is ideal.

But maybe right now, two days of group training is what they can realistically commit to.

If you can honestly say,
“Hey, this option still moves you forward. It’s not perfect, but it works,”
you immediately build trust.

Because now you’re not selling.

You’re guiding.

You’re showing them that you actually care about what’s sustainable for them, not just what’s optimal on paper.

That’s what people remember.

Not the perfect plan.

But the fact that you understood their situation.

There’s also a layer of empathy here that most coaches skip.

Sometimes people hesitate not because they don’t believe in the program… but because they’re trying to reconcile it with their current reality.

That internal conflict is real.

“I believe this would help me… but can I actually do it?”

If you ignore that, they feel pressure.

If you acknowledge it, they feel understood.

“I get it. That’s a big commitment. Here’s another option that still gets you moving in the right direction.”

That one sentence can change the entire tone of the conversation.

It lowers resistance.
It builds trust.
It keeps the relationship intact.

And ironically, it often leads to better long-term outcomes.

Because people who start with something they can sustain are far more likely to stick around, progress, and eventually grow into higher levels of commitment.

At Pathfinder Sales Coaching, this is a core principle.

We don’t teach you to force the “best” option.

We teach you how to present the right options, build trust through honesty, and help people choose what actually fits their life right now.

Because when people trust you, they don’t just buy once.

They stay.
